A reminder to practise good mental health and wellness.

As we continue to work from home and deal with the effects of this pandemic, it is completely normal to feel anxious. In these times of high anxiety and stress, it is more important than ever to look after your mental health.

Here are some tips for practicing good mental health and wellness.

Take vacation

Have you been feeling overwhelmed by your work-life balance of lack there of? Were you forced to skip out on travel plans this year due to the pandemic? If so, you are not alone. However, it is still important to take some time away from the keyboard.

Taking personal time improves both your physical and mental health, increases productivity, decreases burnout and improves general well-being. So, make sure you lock in some vacation time to relax at the cottage or get those jobs around the house done this summer!

LifeSpeak, an extension of the Employee and Family Assistance Program, helps to keep you and your family mentally and physically healthy through a range of blogs, videos and “Ask the Expert” sessions.

Use the mindfulness tools provided to us through Green Shield Canada

Did you know that Green Shield Canada has an online health portal called Change4Life where you can manage your personal health? Through a range of personalized tips, educational modules, challenges and goal setting, Change4Life can help you take small steps in improving your overall health and well-being.

The more you use the Change4Life portal, the more points you earn which can be used to bid on great rewards such as Starbucks vouchers or FitBit watches. Watch their video to learn more.

Make use of EFAP resources where needed

Your EFAP is a voluntary, confidential counselling service that allows you and your eligible family members to discuss personal or work-related problems and concerns in an understanding and professional environment away from the workplace.

How does it work?

Contact is made directly by you or a family member to Morneau Shepell. The toll-free telephone line is answered by counselors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
